Creative Nonfiction Faculty Application for the MFA Program for Writers
Early Deadline: June 20, 2025 with Rolling Applications Accepted Afterwards
The MFA Program for Writers is delighted to announce the launch of its new Creative Nonfiction track for creative writers. Creative Nonfiction, or Lyric Nonfiction, is a highly aesthetic subset of the Nonfiction genre, and unlike general or factual nonfiction, Creative Nonfiction encompasses a wide range of personal, imaginative, and speculative narrative and hybrid forms from lyric and personal essays to memoirs to speculative nonfiction. Creative Nonfiction as a field of creative writing has also had a lasting influence on the history of arts and letters and the cultural imagination of many nations across the globe. As a genre, Creative Nonfiction highlights diversity of thought, culture, and experience, and thus, often highlights the intersection between craft and social justice.
The Creative Nonfiction track will start on January 3, 2026 at our Winter 2026 MFA Residency which will take place in Black Mountain, North Carolina, and applications for our first Creative Nonfiction MFA Faculty will be accepted by June 20, 2025, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis afterwards.
