Poetry and Fiction Faculty Application for the MFA Program for Writers
Early Deadline: June 20, 2025 with Rolling Applications Accepted Afterwards
Since 1976 when the MFA Program for Writers pioneered the low-residency MFA model in the United States and in the world, the program has welcomed creative writing faculty in Poetry and Fiction who are deeply engaged in the state of their field, are active literary citizens, and are excited to serve as mentors to the next generation of emerging creative writers.
Thus, the MFA Program for Writers is delighted to welcome faculty applications in Poetry and Fiction on a rolling basis. All hiring decisions are made jointly by our Academic Board, a semester at a time, and are directly tied to enrollment. We have over 65 active faculty, all eager to return as often as possible, so there are only a few faculty openings each semester. However, the MFA Program for Writers welcomes new perspectives and aesthetics, and in turn, encourages poets and fiction writers who are interested in teaching in our rigorous, nurturing, and artist-oriented community to apply.
Applications for Poetry and Fiction Faculty will be accepted and reviewed by the MFA academic Board on an on-going basis, and early applications by June 20, 2025 are encouraged.
If you are interested in submitting a faculty application, please complete this form and attach the following items to your applications:
- Letter of Interest
- CV
- Statement of Teaching Philosophy
- List of Poetry or Fiction Classes Taught
- Writing Sample(s) (at least 1 full-length book of Poetry or Fiction)
- 2 Letters of Reference*
Please note that Letters of Reference can be emailed directly to the MFA Director Dr. Rita Banerjee at rbanerjee@warren-wilson rather than added to this form.
The MFA Academic Board will review each faculty application a semester at a time so it may be some time before applicants hear back about the status of their application. Thus, please contact mfa@warren-wilson.edu if you have any questions.
June 20, 2025 will be the early deadline for Poetry and Fiction faculty applications. And rolling applications will be accepted and reviewed on an on-going basis after June 20, 2025.
